The Green Bottle Blue tarantula (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens) is a vividly colored New World tarantula native to the Paraguana Peninsula of northern Venezuela. Adults feature metallic blue legs, a green carapace, and fiery orange abdomen, making them one of the most visually distinctive tarantulas. They are medium-sized, typically reaching about 4.5–6 inches (11–15 cm) leg span, and are semi-arboreal but primarily terrestrial, creating extensive web structures. While generally docile, GBBs are skittish and fast, building heavy webbing and rarely biting; they use urticating hairs as a primary defense. Females can live over a decade, with males living several years. Their arid native habitat suits relatively dry captive conditions with warm temperatures and low humidity.
