Phormictopus is a genus of large, fast-growing tarantulas primarily found in the Caribbean and parts of Central and South America. These spiders are known for their stunning coloration—especially purples, greens, and iridescent hues.
Bold and often defensive, Phormictopus species are extremely active and have hearty appetites. They are not recommended for beginners due to their speed and tendency to flick hairs, but they’re favorites among experienced keepers for their visibility and size.
