Aphonopelma (Tarantulas)
Aphonopelma is a genus of primarily terrestrial tarantulas found throughout the southern United States, Mexico, and Central America.
Known for their calm demeanor and slow growth, these spiders are popular with beginners and long-term keepers alike.
They are well-adapted to dry environments and often create burrows or take refuge under natural cover.
Aphonopelma species typically require minimal humidity, deep substrate for burrowing, and are hardy in captivity. They are generally non-defensive and tolerate handling better than most tarantulas, though handling is still not recommended.
